Why Build Your Own PC
Building your own PC is not just for the “Super technical and nerdy”. It is quite a fun experience and you learn a lot about your systems and computers in general while doing so – which also makes trouble shooting, repairing, and upgrading your system easier down the line. Building your own PC can also potentially save you some money when compared to similarly spec’d off the shelf models, and you can design the computer exactly to the specs you want/need. That last point is very important - if you know what you want, you can design and optimize your computer for your exact needs without all the extra (and oftentimes costly or annoying) bloat.

Is it worth it to build your own PC?

This is a question that will always continue to be asked as there is no right answer. Markets are always changing, new technologies are always being produced, and not to mention there’s always outside influences to be aware of (see “U.S. tariffs in 2025”). Different people have different goals and purposes for owning a computer. For some, an apple computer with an M series chip and unified memory is the end all be all of computers. For others, they can get by with a raspberry pi. If nothing else, understanding how computers are made gives you the information necessary to make your own decision rather than relying on the market. Sometimes, this can result in saving money. Other times, it can actually be more costly. Determine what is right for you in the current conditions in which you exist.
